RE: New Wafer carrier

Hi Chris,

I hope you are doing well!

Can you please send us a quote for 20x of the new wafer pack adapters and the 20x of the tool bank loading jigs? Here are the part numbers and descriptions I pulled from the previous orders:

  • [PN25111765] Turnpack EVO 2" Gelpak Adapter 300mm - 20x 2" Gelpak locations (Suction cup Design) - Gelpak Locating notch lower right corner - Hard-coat Black Anodize
  • [PN24090286] Datacon EVO Toolbank Loading Jig (14-slot) Material: Clear Acrylic

We would also greatly appreciate any larger quantity discounts on these items!

Thanks,

Garrett Davidson

Hi Garrett,

Quick update on the Gelpak Order. One of the plates had an anodizing defect (see below), we returned it and they are currently in the process of fixing it. We have one of the two adapters ready to ship tomorrow and the second one should ship early next week. If you are not desperate for them we can hold the first one and do one shipment for both. Let us know.

Thanks,

Chris

We are unsure of what caused it. Some people said we received it like that, or my guess is that someone threw it into an O2 plasma asher. The other two wafers we have are all black with no discoloration, which still makes me think and O2 ash, or a solvent clean. It’s weird that it is only in certain specific areas though

Either way, it’s just cosmetic and no functional issues with it so no need to spend calories on it for now. If we see another wafer get discolored, we will dig deeper.

Thanks!

Garrett Davidson

Hi Garrett,

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding the new wafer carrier.

We can certainly accommodate the modification to include vacuum slots in all 20 positions, keeping all other specifications consistent with PN24110603. We will have a quote and a design ready for your review by the end of tomorrow.

To prepare the quote accurately, could you please let us know the anticipated order quantity for these carriers?

Additionally, regarding the discoloration you mentioned and showed in the attached image: we have not seen this issue with the anodizing before. Could you provide any details on the operational environment or history that might have caused it?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris,

My name is Garrett Davidson, and I work at Starlink. I am looking at ordering a new wafer carrier, similar to “PN24110603”, except with all 20x slots having vacuum rather than only the top 10x slots. All the other dimensions and everything should be the same other than the additional vacuum slots. Please see the attached image and pardon the discoloration of the carrier. Are you able to send a quote and/or a design for us to review when it’s ready?

Thanks,

Garrett Davidson

    Hi Garrett,

Doing great over here and it sounds like you guys are staying busy as well. I have definitely noticed an uptick in the Starlink ads which probably explains why you need more tooling ;)

For adapters we have tiered discounts based on quantity. 5 equals 5%, 10 equals 10%, and 20 or more get a 20% discount. I applied the same to the loading jigs as well. Hope this works for you. The quote will go out shortly.

Beyond Datacon tooling — we also build custom robotic work cells for precision dispensing, pick-and-place, and inspection. Our FactoryRobot platform achieves ±15μm placement with HALCON vision, volumetric dispense control, and SECS/GEM, allowing it to integrate directly into a fab environment. We are currently delivering systems to Tier-1 medical device OEMs for ACF bonding and flex circuit assembly. If you have any custom automation needs on that side, I'm happy to jump on a call and discuss them.
