I hope this message finds you well.
I am emailing you today to see if you have signed up for the new CARM Client Portal (CCP) with CBSA.
Kindly note that CBSA is changing their relationship with Importers. The new CARM system is the direct link between you, the Importer of Record (IOR) and CBSA. All importers must register before the full CARM functionality is implemented.
If you have not registered, shipments will not be released by CBSA and will result in unnecessary expenses like storage, demurrage, moving in bond or driver waiting charges.
Register here - CARM: The new way to assess and pay duties and taxes on imported commercial goods (https://ccp-pcc.cbsa-asfc.cloud-nuage.canada.ca/en/homepage)
Customs brokers will continue to present entries under the new system and will continue to offer a wide selection of services.
Finally, all Importers will be required to post security to participate in the Release Prior to Payment program (RPP), either by posting a Surety Bond or a cash deposit with CBSA when CARM Release 2 goes live in May 2024. CBSA will be giving importers a 180-day grace period to obtain a bond and after that a bond will be mandatory to release your goods.
Importers will no longer be permitted to use their Customs Broker’s security to clear shipments and receive RPP.
FedEx Trade Networks Canada can assist you in obtaining the surety bond if you wish.
Kindly contact FTN as you begin your onboarding process to the CARM Client Portal. You will require some financial information for your CARM Portal set up, which can be provided to you by FedEx Trade Networks for the latest entries submitted by us.
Steps to register your business on the CPP (Links are video tutorials):

•Once you have successfully registered your business, please delegate FedEx Trade Networks as your broker https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/multimedia/carm-gcra/portal-portail-r1-4-eng.html
•In the business settings – transaction visibility rules, please select all 3 options
•Obtain a RPP bond
