IMAPS Symposium 2026 - Encore Boston Harbor Update

On Friday, September 4, members of Teamsters Local 25 and UNITE HERE Local 26 representing Encore Boston Harbor workers voted to strike. These workers include housekeepers, front desk staff, line cooks, convention center workers, and others who support the daily operations of the property.
 
The strike is still ongoing today, as this email reaches you. IMAPS is not aware when the strike will end, but we wanted to alert our attendees that may be hearing about this issue and may have questions. 
 
IMAPS is moving forward as planned with the 59th Annual IMAPS Symposium. We are in communication with the hotel leadership team, and they have assured us that this strike will not have any significant impacts on our event, nor are there any safety concerns or other disruptions to your experience at The Encore. If the strike continues when our IMAPS community arrives to The Encore later this month, you may see people picketing out on the main street, but will not see any disruptions entering the lobby, nor anywhere inside around our Symposium activities.
 
We will continue to monitor the situation on a daily basis with The Encore team, and remain committed to hosting a productive, professional, safe, and respectful event for all attendees, exhibitors, speakers, and partners.
